So after some more research on both my doctor and the whole bed rest policy, we decided to switch doctors. I had a consult with another doctor today and WOW was it a positive experience :) She was so optimistic instead of the doom and gloom that I got from our previous doctor. And the best part was that when we asked her about their bed rest policy, her response was "What bed rest policy?" We explained to her what our previous doctor had told us and she was shocked. She said there was absolutely no evidence that showed putting women on bedrest helped reduce the risk of pre-term labor. In fact, it actually was worse for your body. This was exactly what Zac and I had thought and had seen in the research we found, so it was nice to hear someone who was actually looking at what the studies proved instead of an old theory.
She said when the babies are born, I'm going to be running a marathon so now is not the time for my muscles to be atrophied and out of shape...I need to be as active as I can be up until the day of delivery. She also said she doesn't like the term "high-risk pregnancy" for twins because most twin pregnancies are just like any other pregnancy, just a little shorter. Just as long as I remain healthy and don't show signs of any negative symptoms, then it should be treated like any other pregnancy.
What a sigh of relief! Now I feel like I can actually enjoy my summer and pregnancy and be excited about what is to come instead of being worried and paranoid that I'm doing too much. Yay!
Now if we could just speed up the next five weeks of school....
YAY! Wonderful news!
